A young boy enters a barber shop and the barber whispers to his customer, “This is the dumbest kid in the world. Watch while I prove it to you.”
The barber puts a dollar bill in one hand and two quarters in the other, then calls the boy over and asks, “Which do you want, son?” The boy takes the quarters and leaves.
“What did I tell you?” said the barber. “That kid never learns.”
Later, when the customer leaves, he sees the same young boy coming out of the ice cream store. “Hey, son! May I ask you a question? Why did you take the quarters instead of the dollar bill?”
The boy licked his cone and replied, “Because the day I take the dollar, the game’s over!”
Well, amen! Lots of wisdom there. That young boy was not so dumb after all.
And the day a person receives the Word of God into their heart, the Word that became flesh and dwelt among us, the game’s over for the devil. Romans 10:9, 10 says, “If you confess with your mouth and believe in your heart that Jesus Christ is Lord and that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.”
Now hear this, salvation is not just forgiveness of the sin and Jesus dying for us, salvation is life. “God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His son. He who has the son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.” (I John 5:11, 12)
When we give control to the Spirit of Christ within, there will be freedom not bondage, cooperation not competition, glory to God not praise to man. The world will see true Christianity, and the lost will come to know the Savior living His life in and through His body of believers, and they will be drawn to Him in us. That is the mystery. (Col 1:27)
The dumbest kid in the world said, “Mister, if I take the dollar bill, the game’s over.” And the wisest person who ever lived in this world said, “I am the vine, you are the branches, if a man abides in me and I in Him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me, you can do nothing.” Well, there it is. Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life. No more game playing. It’s victory in Jesus. The game’s over. It’s not by trying, but by trusting in Him. That’s game, set, match.
